PBS Station features Albany Law's Kate Stoneman

On March 30, 2006, Kate Stoneman─the first woman admitted to the New York State Bar in 1886 and Albany Law School's first female graduate in 1898─was featured on WMHT-TV's "InSight." was featured on WMHT-TV's "InSight."

Prof. Katz discusses Kate Stoneman Day on WAMC's 'Roundtable'

On March 21, 2007, Katheryn D. Katz, Albany Law's Kate Stoneman Chair in Law and Democracy, was invited to discuss the legacy of Kate Stoneman on WAMC's "The Roundtable."

Prof. Katz talked about the difficulties Kate─the first female graduate of Albany Law School and the first woman to pass the New York state bar exam─faced as a woman who wanted to be a lawyer in the 1800s. As a result of her tenacity, her campaign to amend the Code of Civil Procedure to permit the admission of qualified applicants without regard to sex or race proved successful.
